Industrial Demolition Services (IDS) is proud to have been selected by Head Contractor, Fitzgerald Constructions Australia (FCA), to partner in the demolition of the remainder of Central Pier, located in Docklands Melbourne.

IDS completed the demolition of the Central Pier Western tip alongside FCA and Yurringa in 2022, and is excited to once again join this esteemed team.

FCA, known for their expertise in executing complex and sensitive projects, brings a wealth of experience and a proven record of safety, sustainability, and delivering excellent project outcomes.

Yurringa will also have an invaluable role to play, not only in being a key resource provider, but for their deep understanding of the Docklands precinct’s cultural significance to first nations people. Yurringa’s involvement underscores the project’s commitment to preserving and honoring the area’s heritage as part of its transformation.

The abrupt closure of the pier in 2019 due to structural integrity issues serves as a reminder of the challenges faced when balancing historical preservation with modern safety standards, and the Central Pier removal project marks a crucial step in the ongoing revitalisation efforts along the Melbourne waterfront.

The project brings together multiple stakeholders, all of whom are acutely aware of the concerns expressed by the local Docklands community. It is clear that successful consultation and communication will be the linchpins in determining the ultimate success of this venture and IDS is unwaveringly committed to meeting and surpassing the expectations of all stakeholders involved.

Industrial Demolition Services (IDS) is excited to announce our sponsorship of the Professional Taekwondo (PRO TKD) Athletes Team.

“We wanted to partner with a team as diverse and potentially explosive as we are” jokes Managing Director Graham Cressey.

“But seriously, its easy to take the road most travelled and just sponsor a local footy team. Instead we’ve chosen a sporting club that uniquely aligns with our values and culture. It’s inclusive, fast and fun while also being very technical, controlled and precise. Even surrounded by all the black belts, we feel very comfortable there!”

The PRO TKD athletes are currently training hard in Sparring and Poomsae (pattern) to compete at the Australian Taekwondo 2023 National Championships in October.

“This year the competition is being held in Perth so the cost to go is considerable for our athletes.” says Olympian Warren Hansen, owner of the Dojang.

“Especially for the kids who need at least one parent to go with them. We are so lucky to have the IDS sponsorship supporting our team. Their contribution will make a big difference, with more of our athletes able to go and compete.”

The PRO TKD club offers programmes for all ages starting with Bumblebees (4yr olds) and going right through to Teens & Adults (13+). Some parents like to train as well and they even have a couple of whole ‘taekwondo’ families.

In the Athletes program, kids and adults train together as a team – looking after and supporting each other. The club also runs anti-bullying, school and leadership programs.

Pop in and check out Professional Taekwondo at 1 Moore Street, Moonee Ponds, Victoria, on facebook and instagram. Keep an eye out for updates as the competition heats up.

Coaches Nuri and Effie put the team through their paces.

Industrial Demolition Services (IDS) recently completed works at the Re.Group Hallam facility to make way for the highly-anticipated Container Deposit Scheme.

This ambitious project aims to promote recycling and reduce litter across the state, aligning with the Victorian Government’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Container Deposit Scheme, often referred to as a ‘Cash for Containers’ program, is designed to encourage Victorians to return beverage containers for recycling by offering a monetary incentive. The scheme has gained widespread support for its potential to reduce landfill waste and increase recycling rates.

The project involved the removal of redundant equipment to create space for the construction of recycling facilities and collection points. By making way for these crucial components of the Container Deposit Scheme, IDS has played a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for Victoria.

The Container Deposit Scheme is expected to not only reduce litter but also stimulate job creation within the recycling and waste management sectors. This initiative is a significant step towards a cleaner and greener Victoria.

Recycling facilities are expected to be fully operational by late 2023, and IDS is proud to have contributed to the state’s journey towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
